Research

The research at the institute is devoted to technical aspects of polymer chemistry. The focus is on the following topics:

  • Detailed investigations into kinetics and mechanism of radical polymerizations
  • Polymerization of bio-based monomers
  • Emulsion polymerizations
  • Kinetic Monte Carlo simulations using the modeling platform mcPolymer developped at the institute
  • Polymer electrolyte membranes for applications in fuel cells and vanadium redox flow batteries
  • Vinylidene fluoride homopolymers and copolymers: synthesis close to technical conditions and characterization
  • Supercritical carbon dioxide as process medium
  • Recycling of polymers

Additional topics are listed in the section research areas / equipment.
